Behind the Scenes: Adele and Rich Paul’s Journey to Officially Confirmed Matrimony
Online rumours state that Adele has “confirmed” her second marriage to Rich Paul. For many months, there have been rumours that the British pop sensation married Paul, a sports agent best known for representing NBA player LeBron James. This is especially true after she called Paul “my husband” at a show at her Las Vegas residency in September of last year.
Following their attendance at the first stand-up show in the United States by British comedian Alan Carr—which was reportedly held at “a super small and intimate venue” for “maybe 75 people”—a number of social media users started posting over the weekend. (Carr is well known to be one of Adele’s best friends; the musician is said to have officiated at Carr’s 2018 marriage to his now ex-husband, which took place in the rear garden of Adele’s Los Angeles residence.) The celebrity gossip website Deuxmoi shared the posts, which claim that Adele responded, “I did!” when host Carr briefly inquired about recent marriages among the audience members during the show.
Even though Adele and Paul had first connected at a party many years before they started dating, their romance didn’t really take off until 2021—two years after the singer had announced her intention to file for divorce from Simon Konecki, the man she shares a son with. In her first interview following her public relationship confirmation, Adele said of Paul in her 2021 Vogue cover story, “He was always there, I just didn’t see him.” She went on, “Rich just incredibly arrived,” expressing how she felt safe and at ease in the relationship right away. “I don’t feel tense, worried, or overwhelmed. In fact, the reverse is true. It’s crazy.
Since then, the couple has mostly been seen watching basketball games from the sidelines while on dates with James, one of Paul’s most well-known clients. Not that Paul hasn’t supported Adele either; earlier this year, the two went to the Grammy Awards together, where Adele won Best Pop Solo Performance for the song “Easy on Me.” Adele sparked marriage rumours last month when she shared an Instagram photo of herself holding a copy of Paul’s memoir and another diamond ring on her wedding finger. Adele had previously worn a diamond ring on the fourth finger of her left hand at the event in February.
Although Adele’s representatives have not yet confirmed the information, congratulations are in order for the happy couple if the rumours are accurate.
