Gov. Chris Sununu released information regarding the shooting on X, formerly known as Twitter, just before five o’clock in the evening. He said that the incident had been contained and that the state had moved quickly to mobilize.

In addition, the governor promised to give as much information as possible as events developed.

Later on Friday night, the attorney general’s office in New Hampshire identified the victim as Bradley Haas, a 63-year-old resident of Franklin, New Hampshire. At approximately 3:30 p.m., Haas was working security at the hospital’s front lobby entrance when he was shot in the course of duty.

Haas, a father and veteran of the law enforcement system, was previously the chief of the Franklin Police Department, according to the attorney general. After serving three years as a military police officer in the US Army, he started out as a patrol officer and worked for 28 years in his hometown department.

The attorney general’s office further stated that his family has requested privacy at this time.

As the investigation is ongoing, the identity of the shooter has not yet been made public by the authorities.
